MARY JEANNE HOOKER
MARY JEANNE HOOKER
Event Dates:

Mary Jeanne Hooker
December 24, 1922 to July 26, 2015.
Mary Jeanne Hooker was ready to go and died peacefully, holding her daughter’s hand.
Mary loved people. As her friend said “she made 100% of people she met feel 100% important”. She loved bridge, crossword puzzles, fishing, football, Santa Cruz Warrior games, knitting, children, reading cookbooks, dogs, music and theatre of all kinds. And… she REALLY loved Santa Cruz. She thought it was almost too good to be true. She loved the weather, Steamer Lane and slow driving on West Cliff Drive. She loved her new apartment and the great friends she made in the neighborhood. She loved feeding people & would drag her oxygen tank and walker to three different stores to find just the right scallops. She was a fantastic bridge player and felt grateful for all of the friends she made at the bridge club when she arrived here 11 years ago.
Mary will be missed by everyone who knew her. Born in Rawlins, Wyoming, she is predeceased by her husband, Chuck Hooker. She is survived by her daughter, Dee Anne Hooker, her nieces Laura and Leslie and their families and by her almost daughter Gail Meyer.
Thanks to everyone for being so nice to her.
